Primary Purpose



The Member Service Representative - Cash (MSR - Cash) is a key position in the branch providing routine cash financial transaction through exemplary member service. The MSR - Cash is usually the primary point of contact for existing and new members and can foster relationships through service excellence and broad product knowledge.



Key Accountabilities



Member Service:

Processes wide range of cash financial transactions while offering a suite of deposit products.
Is knowledgeable in all Northern Savings Credit Union financial products and services to enable referrals to Financial Services Representatives, retail and Business Services, wealth management and insurance (life, property and casualty).
Takes ownership of member issues and complaints, resolving and referring as appropriate.
Presents a professional image to members and internal customers (other staff).
Continually markets the benefits of membership to non-members to grow the member base.
Other duties may be assigned periodically.

Engages in positive internal customer interactions which support a positive, respectful workplace that promotes team success.
Collaborates with staff in addressing services issues and member concerns.
Fosters a culture consistent with the credit union’s values and service philosophy.
Actively participates in team meetings.


Operational Effectiveness:

Has excellent knowledge of processes and procedures that apply to the MSR role.
Identifies process improvements and escalates to supervisor.
Ensures that all interactions with members and fellow staff are completed in a professional and timely manner.


Risk Management and Financial Health:

Meets compliance, confidentiality and regulatory requirements and abides by management policy and branch procedures.
Understands authorities with respect to overrides, waiving service charge and negotiable items custodial duties.
Maintains cash limits and combinations in accordance with Northern Savings policies and procedures.


Minimum Qualifications:



Education:

High School diploma is a requirement.
Completion of post-secondary education is an asset.
Completion of CUSOURCE and/or CU Training courses related to this position is an asset.


Experience:

Previous sales and service experience is required.
Previous financial services experience is an asset.


Skills:

Demonstrated sales and service skills.
Broad knowledge of products and services required.
Ability to prioritize, organize work within time constraints, under pressure and competing priorities.
Ability to communicate and liaise professionally with members, potential customers, community groups and co-workers while maintaining confidentiality.
Working knowledge, skills and experience in Microsoft Office.

The Business Account Manager is a key position in the branch providing business financial solutions and exemplary member service. This role is the primary point of contact to a portfolio of members whose basic business needs expand both the lending and investment spectrum. The Business Account Manager also demonstrates strong relationship management and business development skills in order to bring new business members to Northern Savings Credit Union.



The Business Account Manager is to demonstrate positive and professional leadership within the Credit Union and externally in the community. The Business Account Manager collaborates with the employees of Business Services to achieve their maximum potential and produce results in the best interest of the credit union while respecting and delivering the needs of members.



Key Accountabilities



Knowledge of Market and Industry:

Maintains knowledge of business market with regards to services, products, rates, and fees.
Maintains knowledge of current market activity locally and nationally in order to identify opportunities for Northern Savings.
Maintains knowledge of economic factors and implications for the business line.
Maintains awareness of competition in the market.
Develops and fosters key relationships within the credit union system and with key Northern Savings partners.


Member Service:

Responsible for the delivery of products and services to achieve exemplary member service for existing and new business members.
Identifies product needs and services which would enhance the business member’s financial relationship with the Credit Union and/or amendments to existing products and services.
Ensures professional image of unit to members and internal customers.
Advises Manager, Business Services on challenges in delivery of products and services to maximize member service and on changing member needs and expectations.
Continually markets the benefits of membership to non-members to grow the membership.

Contributes to a positive capable team to meet the mandate of the business unit.
Collaborates with staff in addressing services issues and member concerns.
Provides mentoring to enhance employee performance.
Fosters a culture consistent with the credit union’s values and service philosophy.
Collaborates with management team colleagues and with corporate office staff and leaders.




Operational Effectiveness:

Provides for effective functioning of the business line and attaining stated objectives.
Identifies process improvements and works with Manager, Business Services to develop solutions.
Builds relationships with existing members and clients, networks with external business organizations and individuals to generate referrals and solicit new business.


Risk Management and Financial Health:

Contributes to profitability of the business unit through product sales that fall within prescribed pricing guidelines.
Provides referrals to other business units, i.e. insurance, retail services, financial advisory services.
Ensures operations meet compliance and regulatory requirements as well as abiding by corporate level policy.
Adheres to delegated lending limits.
Proactively identifies inherent risk to products and operations and implements appropriate risk responses to mitigate to acceptable tolerance.
Monitors accounts with a higher risk profile, develop plans to mitigate risk for Northern Savings.


Minimum Qualifications:



Education:

Completion of post-secondary education is required.
Completion of sales and service training required.
Completion of business credit lending program is required.


Experience:

Previous business lending experience required.
Previous retail lending experience preferred.
Previous financial services experience is required.
Extensive credit background and experience in evaluating all aspects of credit decisions, including risk, at a corporate level.


Skills:

Business acumen and understanding of demands of running a business.
Demonstrated sales and service skills.
Experience in research and negotiation is an asset.
Expert financial system knowledge and skills required.
Expert knowledge of business lending products and services required.
Expert knowledge of Credit Risk policy is required.
Ability to prioritize, organize work within time constraints, under pressure and competing priorities.
Ability to communicate and liaise professionally with all members, potential customers and co-workers while maintaining confidentiality.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Working knowledge, skills and experience in Microsoft Office.


Travel is a requirement of this position.

The Haida Gwaii Child Care Resource and Referral (CCRR) program provides support, resources and referral services for childcare providers, parents and caregivers in all communities on Haida Gwaii with the mandate of promoting quality child care choices that meet the needs of local families.
The successful candidate will enjoy working with people, be organized, personable, efficient, computer savvy and comfortable working as part of a team as well as on their own.
Preference will be given to candidates with an Early Childhood Educator Certificate, or to those who are interested in pursuing one.
The individual should be based in the North End of Haida Gwaii with own their own vehicle.

JOB SUMMARY:
Provides prevention, assessment, referral, counselling, and follow-up services to HGSCP Supportive Recovery clients affected by alcohol and drug substance use disorders.
Reporting to the Transition House Director, the Supportive Recovery Counsellor provides substance use recovery support services and counselling, develops and reviews substance use treatment plans, and provides life skills training, coaching, advocacy, and support to Transition House and Transition House Supportive Recovery program clients experiencing substance use disorder problems and to their caregivers/families, in accordance with an established plan of treatment/care. The Supportive Recovery Counsellor works to ensure that Supportive Recovery clients are connected with access to responsive, sensitive, and relevant assessment and treatment services. Motivates, assists, and supports clients with progress towards substance use recovery goals, documents and reports clients’ progress and condition. Develops substance use recovery, treatment, harm reduction and ongoing recovery maintenance strategies and plans in collaboration with the clients and the Transition House team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS -
• Bachelor’s degree in counselling, social work, or a related field
• Two (2) years counselling experience with an emphasis on women who have experienced violence and/or women experiencing substance use disorder.
• In-depth and up –to-date knowledge of theory/treatment in the field of trauma and feminist counseling.
• Current First Aid Certificate with CPR component
• Food Safe Certificate (may be completed online)
• Naloxone (will be provided online)
• Mental Health First Aid
• Valid Class V Driver’s License
• Access to a reliable vehicle; this position is required to use their vehicle in the course of job duties.
• The successful applicant will be required to join the BCGEU General Services union membership.
• This position is dependent upon a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sector.
