JOB SUMMARY:
Provides prevention, assessment, referral, counselling, and follow-up services to HGSCP Supportive Recovery clients affected by alcohol and drug substance use disorders.
Reporting to the Transition House Director, the Supportive Recovery Counsellor provides substance use recovery support services and counselling, develops and reviews substance use treatment plans, and provides life skills training, coaching, advocacy, and support to Transition House and Transition House Supportive Recovery program clients experiencing substance use disorder problems and to their caregivers/families, in accordance with an established plan of treatment/care. The Supportive Recovery Counsellor works to ensure that Supportive Recovery clients are connected with access to responsive, sensitive, and relevant assessment and treatment services. Motivates, assists, and supports clients with progress towards substance use recovery goals, documents and reports clients’ progress and condition. Develops substance use recovery, treatment, harm reduction and ongoing recovery maintenance strategies and plans in collaboration with the clients and the Transition House team.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS -
• Bachelor’s degree in counselling, social work, or a related field
• Two (2) years counselling experience with an emphasis on women who have experienced violence and/or women experiencing substance use disorder.
• In-depth and up –to-date knowledge of theory/treatment in the field of trauma and feminist counseling.
• Current First Aid Certificate with CPR component
• Food Safe Certificate (may be completed online)
• Naloxone (will be provided online)
• Mental Health First Aid
• Valid Class V Driver’s License
• Access to a reliable vehicle; this position is required to use their vehicle in the course of job duties.
• The successful applicant will be required to join the BCGEU General Services union membership.
• This position is dependent upon a satisfactory Criminal Record Check for vulnerable sector.

Reporting to the Program Manager, the PSWs function as part of a team to provide a range of supports serving Alder House residents, many of whom are living with mental illness and/or substance abuse. The PSW facilitates life skills development and provides emotional and practical support and referrals to appropriate health and community services to assist the Program Participant to attain a successful occupancy outcome.
Successful candidates should have the ability to communicate clearly and sensitively with vulnerable people, to build and maintain relationships with participants, have a high level of patience and emotional resilience and strong organizational skills. I run the kitchen and guest house there. We cater to tour groups/kayakers and independent travellers.

I am in need of a kitchen helper and a guest house helper.

The kitchen job consists of helping me prepare food over the course of the day for the guests. Serving breakfast/preparing a packed lunch/baking/serving a sit down dinner/dessert/dishes/cleaning etc. and helping in the garden.

The Guest house job consists of greeting and orienting guests on quirks of Rose harbour and guesthouse/outhouse/etc.
Cleaning guest house and shower/toilet after each trip. Starting the fire for the shower/splitting firewood. Helping in the kitchen as needed. And helping in the garden.

I am looking for a guest house helper from mid June to mid August and a kitchen helper for the month of August.

Village of Masset is seeking an experienced, energetic, and motivated individual to fill the position of Public Works Maintenance 1

Reporting to the Public Works Superintendent of the Village of Masset, the successful applicant will be responsible for duties such as:

- Mowing and trimming all Village parks and boulevards & snow-clearing
- Operate and conduct routine maintenance on equipment and tools as required
- Assist in all areas of the Village maintenance program as required
(including sewer, water, and airport requirements)
- Building maintenance (light repairs like painting & cleaning)
- On-the-job training (work towards obtaining a Certification in Water Distribution I, Wastewater Collection 1, or Water Treatment 1)
- Road repairs.
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Grade 12 or equivalent
- Valid class 5 driver’s license (driver abstract required)
- Working knowledge of various tools & equipment used for the position
- WHMIS training an asset – will be required to take it if not already taken
- Working independently and as part of a team is essential.
- First aid - will be required to take it if not already taken
- Work in all weather conditions. Able to sit, stand, kneel, lift for extended periods.


The Village of Masset offers a comprehensive salary of $27.25/hr. and benefits package for this full-time, 40-hour / week position, with overtime when required. The position will be subject to the CUPE Local 105-03 Collective Agreement.
