The workshop will begin with a discussion of dreams and the history of dreams. This will incorporate how dreams are perceived by other cultures and explain the relation of dreams to art and vice versa. We will also consider artists who use dreams to inspire creativity including historical art movements and cultures that use dream imagery.
With our minds full of images, we’ll move into a relaxation exercise in order for us all to open ourselves to creative ideas. Then there will be a creative exercise using canvas and cardboard in order to start creating free form imagery and a base for future work. More visualization will lead into the creation of sketches that inform the creation of printing plates. Eventually the work will come together in the form of a visual quilt and sharing, which may lead to more imagery.
The workshop will not only include practicing visualization as an image generation technique but will also include detailed learning about collagraph printing, plate inking, consideration of design elements in creating imagery and group sharing.
