7:00 pm Presentation on Lichens of Laskeek Bay: Crow whiskers, fairy puke, and more
Guest speaker Stu Crawford, Ecological consultant. Stu is originally from a ranch in Alberta, but moved to the coast in 2002 to complete an M.Sc. in ethnobotany at the University of Victoria. His research focused on how people use lichens for food and medicine. Stu has lived in Masset for the last four years, where he works as an environmental consultant and educator, and continues his interests in natural history, lichenology, and foraging. He has been volunteering at East Limestone Island since 2012.
