Do artists need technology, or does technology need artists? How is Haida Gwaii’s artistic community responding to the emergence of AI, and how can we de-center AI and put control back in artists’ hands? This public talk and community-led discussion will feature presentations from arts producer/writer Hannah Andrews (Google Arts and Culture, UK), filmmaker and AI supply chain researcher Zane Cooper (St. Lawrence University, NY), and a creative collective mapping exercise led by visual artist and teacher Susannah White (Emily Carr). Presented in partnership between the Land, Sea, Sky project (www.landseasky.ca), Haida Gwaii Museum, and Swiilawiid Sustainability Society’s partnered program Hlk’yak’ii [To Start A Fire].
Performing House, 6:00 – 8:00pm
Food and refreshments provided! Fun door prizes!
