The Haida Gwaii Film Festival 2015 is bringing over 50 films from Haida Gwaii, Canada and around the world!

This part of the festival will be showcasing our Indigenous film work from our repertoire.

The highlights are:

Saturday, March 14th: 

  • 6pm ”Tracing The Roots” introduced by Ellen Frankenstein and Haida Weaver, Delores Churchill.  
  • 8pm: “In The Land of Head Hunters” by Edward S. Curtis. This film will be Introduced by Colin Brown Colin Brown who was an advisor and supporter of the project. He is a documentary filmmaker and taught film production and film history at SFU, specializing in my film history classes on Canadian and BC film.

Sunday, March 15th:

  • 5pm “My Legacy” by Helen Haig-Brown, follows Helen as she explores the often tenuous relationship between a mother and daughter made more complex by the legacy of residential school, taking us through a journey of healing the impacts of inter-generational trauma on trust, bonding, love and self worth.

Elders Over 65 Years Old: Free
Day Pass: $30
Children Under 12 Years Old: Free

.Festival passes will be available at our fundraiser event on Feb. 28th in QC at Sun Studio (beside the fire hall).
