Strengthening Families Together is a structured six-session program designed to help families and friends gain a solid understanding of mental illness and the confidence to build simple, practical tools to support someone you care for,
The program covers information on psychosis, schizophrenia, mood and personality disorders, along with discussions on treatments, side effects, the impact of substance use and how stigma can become a barrier to recovery. Together, we aim to build supportive connections while exploring key areas such as communication skills, crisis planning, stress management, and advocacy.
To augment our time together, we welcome guest speakers, one who will help bring clarity to the recent changes to the BC Mental Health Act, a development that will impact us all.
The importance of family and friends in recovery is a growing movement that is gaining traction. Together we are stronger.
Dates: Thursday, Jan 16-Feb 19
Time 5:30-7:30. Includes a light meal.
